Life planning is a continuous process that involves the gathering of information, wishes, legacy planning, estate planning, and creating opportunities for memories.  This process provides your loved ones the map to caring for what you treasure the most and removes the guesswork and stress element that comes from trying to guess what someone would have wanted.  

All Lunara doulas are also registered nurses with experience and a heart for palliative and hospice patients.  We have sat vigil on this path countless times and have seen the surviving family members grapple for footing after loosing a loved one. Lunara was founded on the principle that no one should die alone and that the surviving friends and family members should be able to grieve and seek comfort rather than drown in an ocean of confusion, paperwork and legalities.  We also have vetted resources and support companies that can be added to your team as your needs change.

Throughout our lives, We ask for help planning for births, weddings, college, finances and our overall health.  When we begin to face one of the most intimidating events, the end of our lives, people fail to plan. For most of people when facing this chapter of their lives, they need a companion and a guide to help make sense of the changes.  It is nice to have someone you can talk to, express your fears to and have them by your side advocating for your wishes and needs. Lunara Death Doulas bring the stability of experience, holistic support, facilitate discussions on death and legacy.  We help you find peace in the storm. We look at the big picture and often bring light to areas your may have missed. 

We all struggle in the best of times to remember all the user names, passwords and account numbers that we have.  How will you remember all the details when your mind is set on something else or an emergency arises?  What accounts do you have opened that need attended to each month? What bills can cause estate complications? What thoughts and feelings would you like your loved ones to know if one day you were not able to tell them? What would you like to happen to all your possessions and do you know the legal ramifications of those decisions? What do you want others to know about your pets or children if you were no longer able to care for them? There are so many everyday things that can bring our mortality into plain view when we are willing to look.  We may not need these plans today, but we will need them and in that moment you will have the relief of knowing you have a plan. 

Our experience has been that whether it comes suddenly or as a long slow walk, dying is never convenient or expected in the moment it comes and it is good to be prepared.  Being blind to our inevitable circle of life will not change that the fact that, eventually, it will come full circle.  Death preparation is much like birth preparation in that we get the beautiful opportunity to bring our personalities, wishes, and design to the final conclusion of our life.  We get to reflect and plan for the memories we want to build with the time left, say the unsaid things, accomplish the things you have put off and build a legacy to be remembered.   

Having a trust or will is the tip of the iceberg.  There is so much more to closing our loved ones affairs and identifying possible needs that might arise in real time. As we ask the big questions, we begin to identify any other needs that you might have and we help you design a blueprint.  When the blueprint is made into a plan, your loved ones will be able to make informed decisions and ease.  We are your companion for as little or as long as you need.
